Been craving steak lately but I work overnights and am mostly out of luck at 6am, so I decided to finally take a crack at it using surface level knowledge from lurking this subreddit.
I seasoned a $15 Walmart Ribeye and then threw it in my air fryer (it’s one of those air fryer/toaster oven hybrids) on bake for 250°F occasionally flipping until it was temping at roughly 115°-120°. I pre-heated a stainless steel pan on high heat on my electric stove top and then sprayed the steak with a canola oil cooking spray before cooking for roughly 1 min on each side. I let it rest for 10 mins.
Overall I’m pretty satisfied with how it turned out and it tasted pretty good. I’m assuming I should’ve used a different oil and a cast iron but I was limited on options given how impulsive this was lol.

Sear is a bit hard for my preference, but would absolutely smash.
Air fryer THEN stainless?? That steak wasn’t cooked. It was forced through two-stage re-entry.
Thank you for not cutting the whole thing into slices for the sake of a photo op. 👌🏽
Interesting cook method, but looks good..
Light your subject matter. I think it looks good at this light anyway, good job! 👍👍👍
Long time lurker, first time poster. I did 12 years in nearly every aspect of fine dining restaurants. Compound butter on top or some chimichurri on the side for me and mark it up 400%
Well done chef.
That plate though chef. It reminds me of Marlboros and Budweisers.
Cast iron pan is a must for steak, or a ceramic cast iron. For years i cooked steak to a decent standard but the cast iron takes it too the next level. If you want good steak recommendations then a wagyu thats a level or 2 below a5 and try pichana, fillet (not sure if its only called fillet in uk) and ribeye
