As we head in to the second week of March, it’s time to crack on with some essential jobs that need to be done this month, before we miss the window for the season.

There’s some harvesting and bed cleaning in today’s video, the fruit cage needs a bit of attention and I remember I have a forgotten crop….and it’s a MAMMOTH harvest from it too.

Whilst the home allotment is looking very bare, it’s not long now until Spring fully hits and the garden will start to be planted up for the summer season. This will be my third season with this growing space. Confidence grows with each passing season and the anticipation is mounting. I also show you some progress on the new idea for a micro flower farm here at The Farmyard Garden. Expanding from vegetable growing into flower growing for commercial gain, selling bouquets over summer.

I cannot wait to enjoy this growing season with you and all the things we have planned.

@SowChatty has been back for 5 episodes now in it’s second season. We are loving being back and Kerry @dogontheplot and I are loving being part of the wider conversation with you all in our premiere live chats on Wednesday’s at 7pm during our episode launches. Next week is our tomato special where we reveal the varieties we have chosen to grow this year.

  2. Love the plans for the flower farm. Its going to be amazing.
When do you move luffas to the polytunnel? Mine are escaping the grow station 😮😮

  3. Veg garden looking lovely and tidy and boy what a lot of blossom on your fruit trees 😮 The flower farm will look fabulous and it’ll be attracting lots of pollinators too

  4. Great to see your garden coming to life. Celeriac looks great. On "fartichokes", I tried lactofermenting my winters crop with chilli and garlic. Absolutely top and no issues! I am ok with them just roasted after taking it easy eating a just a few most days and never overdoing it. I have loads of bees on my celandine, snowdrops and crocuses.

I've finally got going on my garden as it seems spring has hit and very probably stays. Tree felling already done today, a small one that would have got too big and cast too much shade.

  5. Those broccoli look amazing. Must be better organised this year!! Imagine the smell of the fruits in the tunnel come summer…

  6. Wow, exciting times at Chez Clare, I think you must have more hours in your days than me. It seems like a good idea to try and sell those artichokes (with a warning).

  7. Nice to see you having fun in your garden Clare. You’ve found your passion and it shows. With that enthusiasm and your hard work I’m sure your cut flower project, and any other, will be a success. It’s fun for me too to watch you at work creating your little world.

  9. Hi Clare, i see you are excited for the new season. Wow! The calabrese looks amazing! When did you sow to grow over winter? I grew cauliflowers but they went over very quickly & don't know why. I found a huge bumble bee in my polytunnel this week and the frogs have been very busy in my pond too – half full of frog spawn ❤ your peach tree looks lovely, I love the colour of the flowers ❤ lovely tour and look forward to seeing your new flowers garden too. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊
