i think ive literally mastered the art of cooking steak to the point no other steak lives up to the ones i make at home.

I don’t go to texas roadhouse for the best steak. I go there to people watch with my wife while we eat bread and appetizers and get a pretty okay steak for $20.

Texas Roadhouse is pretty good for a chain restaurant steak, and the cinnamon-honey butter is worth the trip alone.

I cook steak at home 95% of the time and the other 5% is Texas Roadhouse takeout. $15 for an 8 oz sirloin with two sides when I can’t be bothered to cook is hard to beat. It’s not great, but compared to what else $15 gets you these days I’m here for it. It’s extremely rare I order a steak in any other circumstance because it’s not as good as mine, on top of being expensive.

I’ll happily eat at a casual restaurant but I’ll only order a steak from a high-end joint. The steaks I make at home are so far better than Texas Roadhouse or the like, that I just end up disappointed. I’ll get a French dip and fries.

Home cooked for the best steak but for a fun night out there’s nothing wrong with an affordable steakhouse as long as they get it right most nights. Texas Roadhouse does a pretty decent job for the price

I can only speak to one location, twice in the last few months and then 2/3 times about 15+ years ago but customer service there is fantastic.

For a cheap steak, it’s fun enough but it’s a pain to get in. If I want to go out, I’m spending money at a real steakhouse. Otherwise I’m making at home.

I make better steaks at home for a fraction of the price. So for steaks, it’s at home.

I’ll go out for sushi, though.

Because everything is expensive now so may as well buy a diner steak and eat the whole bullet

I love some Texas Roadhouse, but steak I cook at home are on a whole other level. They also cost more than an entire meal at TR because I like ’em thicc

A lot of times I go homemade. However I do have a great steakhouse near me that’s definitely a step above a casual place that has great prices even better food and a fantastic view of the city.

I know I’ll be in the minority on this, but I actually prefer Longhorn to Texas Roadhouse. Outlaw Ribeye is always perfect every time I go and I love the flavor.

Restaraunts get a generally better cut per pound price regardless of volume pricing. It’s nice to see a company that doesn’t have to wring out out every penny to provide a decent product at decent price. That’s why they kill it. Volume over per plate price.

Who would go to Texas roadhouse for a date? Cant hear shit when there so unless type of couple that just eats & dont talk seems like odd choice

If you can cook a steak always home cooked steak. I don’t ever order steak when dining out.

If this is a first date, you are a man, and your date is a woman then probably go out. A neutral and public location is going to feel more safe.

Texas Roadhouse has its place. If I don’t want to cook and cleanup, I’ll go there. Though the steaks are good for what they are, I usually just get something else off the menu.

I really don’t want to pay for steak unless it is better than what I can do myself. I’ll eat steak at places that get better cuts than I can or that have equipment that I don’t – outside of that I can get exactly what I want at home as far as steak is concerned. Restaurants are for all the stuff I can’t cook.

Their baby back ribs are actually delicious

A date? With a woman? Yeah don’t invite her to your house unless you guys are already best friends and have that kind of relationship already and the date is a formality.

Take her to a neutral location, somewhere safe, and let her control the tempo of things.

“Cooking a meal for you at my house” is 3rd-5th date territory. She’s comfortable enough around you by that point to have seen you in different situations, knows the first date wasn’t a one-off fluke (so you’re probably not a murderer), and is probably interested in getting to know you better (eg. seeing how you live and what your house is like). But even then I’d phrase it as a suggestion instead of a “here’s what we’re doing”-thing.

Everytime I get a steak from Texas Roadhouse they’re incredibly over salted, not good and no where close to enjoyable to eat unfortunately. I much rather prefer to cook a steak at home but as someone else pointed out, I’ll go for the rolls and butter

    To actually answer OP’s question:

If it’s a first date, definitely go out.

If it’s not a first date, my advice is: If you can cook a steak 80% as good as a restaurant steak, then home-cooked will absolutely win you more points because you put in the effort. Also make some nice sides and present it well. No paper plates!

It sucks because I grew up with Texas Roadhouse, but moved here to WA and the only one in my vicinity is on a military base. We made sure to get some while it was open for the 4th. Only outback’s around here which are kinda shit.

The few times we eat out for steak are for special occasions so lately we’ve gone to those Brazilian places where they walk around and you eat as much as you want. Pretty sweet

  24. Long Horn impressed me reciently, it and Texas Roadhouse are totally worth it imo. Rip Outback last two times I went it was mid to bad.

  25. Ton_in_the_Sun

If I’m going out for a steak it’s Roadhouse 10 times out of 10 times. There is no alternative to the quality, price, and rolls. Nothing has declined in the 20 years I’ve been going.

  26. thecakeisali

Texas Roadhouse is the only steakhouse where I feel I get my moneys worth with quality vs cost as opposed to making it myself.

  27. forfeitgame

I like Texas Roadhouse, but the CEO saying they are number one is as deep as the McDonald’s CEO pretending to eat a burger.
