We've been on an Italian kick lately and this one delivered. 2020 Cossetti Clemente e Figli Cinquantotto Barbaresco. Dried rose petals and tar right out of the glass, dark cherry and leather on the palate, with wet stone and graphite minerality running underneath. Cranberry acidity keeps it lifted. Med+ tannins and totally in balance. Solid complexity for a ~$40 Barbaresco.
The finish is medium and it's not going to rewrite your list. But we want to keep exploring. What are your go-to Barbaresco producers, big or small, value or splurge?

nice notes on that, the tar and rose thing is so distinctly nebbiolo. for value barbaresco i keep going back to produttori del barbaresco, their base bottling is usually around $30-35 and punches way above. if you want to step up a bit their single cru bottles are incredible for the price. also look into paitin and sottimano if you havent already, both make really expressive stuff that doesnt need a decade of patience to enjoy. for a splurge bruno giacosa rabaja has ruined me for most other producers honestly. but at ~$40 that cossetti sounds like a solid daily drinker spot, might have to track one down
Barbaresco is strangely underrated which is more about the popularity of it’s cousin Barolo which makes Barbaresco a better value. Fave producers of mine would be Giuseppe Cortese and Produttori del Barbaresco.
