I usually avoid most kitchen gadgets because they end up sitting in a drawer after a week. But I randomly tried one of these portable blenders recently and it actually works better than I expected. Super convenient for quick smoothies without dragging out a big blender. Curious if anyone else here actually uses portable blenders or if most of them are usually junk?

  1. All up to the person I hardly ever use my blender so its a gimmick to me

My wife uses her’s daily and as someone who cleans it up occasionally I am going to say yes

Pienso que son demasiado pequeñas y se ensucia mucho para “nada”

I personally like an immersion blender for smoothies. So much easier to clean. Run the end under the tap and throw the cup in the dishwasher.

You might be able to make peanut butter. Add some nuts (recommend KP btw) and olive oil (I know it’s bloody expensive but worth the expense) and blend it. You like crunchy? Add some nuts after the blend for a quick blitz.

I have a Ninja personal blender and a Vitamix. Ever since we got the Ninja, I don’t think we’ve used the Vitamix a single time. It just ends up being super convenient, not having to plug it in, and being able to clean it quickly. Sort of reminds me of switching to a cordless vacuum cleaner when they first came out.

No. Most blenders have a base that is the same size as a small mouth mason jar. Just use your regular blender and a small mouth mason jar.

Besides for smoothies, what else can you use it for?

My blender broke and I started using my hand blender in a pinch. Since then, I realized that it’s much better than a regular blender because it’s so much easier to clean. Never looked back since.

I have a very small portable blender from WMF and it is the only blender I actually use. My roomate owns a larger one but I never bothered to use it since I never make anything that would require that volume.

I loved mine, used it daily. My actual blender never gets touched, it just doesn’t make sense to use. The mini is also easy to clean

I use my little ninja every day for morning juice/smoothie, full sized Vitamix is collecting dust.
    — Easier to clean
    — Perfect portion size
    — Sometimes I drink directly out of it, take it to my office, which means no transfer into another glass, fewer dishes

    Dealers choices.

You have the ability to blend at your convenience. Most won’t or can’t.

If you stick with it, find a routine to clean and replace quickly.

If it doesn’t fit any routine burn it like a journal entry.

if you like simple smoothies, protein shakes or frappes it’s super useful! I had a little blend jet and used it almost every day in summer

I use mine daily but most can’t handle a lot of ice if that’s a problem for you. I honestly don’t like smoothies that cold. I use them to make my protein smoothie and to make my kids daily smoothie since they’re at the age where they won’t eat veggies or a lot of stuff that’s high in fiber. Where as in a smoothie they’ll drink chia seeds, flax seeds, spinach etc

They’re easy to clean depending on the model, just pop some dish soap and water in and blend for a minute.

I use mine all the time but I make a protein shake and bring it to work. I have the ninja brand.

I’ve never used a portable blender but I have one of the battery powered mixer cups for protein shakes and it’s awesome. I will never use a regular shaker cup again.

My manager has one and uses it every day for her smoothies! She would not be without it. <3

Love my Ninja. Bought my parents one years ago, and they use it daily. They bought my siblings a portable and are now hooked too. The “gimmick” comments/crowd must be bots and not irl experience/s ha!

Gimmick. My smoothie needs to be bigger than that

I wouldn’t trust these off brand ones to last very long, that would be my biggest concern.

We have one, it feels like less of a hassle so I’m more likely to use it (and it’s more likely to be on the counter instead of tucked away somewhere) than a big blender. My go-to would be an immersion blender, though – just as easy to use, easier to clean, and you can use it for a big batch of something or for something hot/savory (soup) without needing to transfer it or do multiple batches.

I don’t actually find the travel feature itself convenient in most situations, although we did take it camping once! Usually it’s a neutral or negative thing – ours can’t run *while* it’s charging, and I’ve had the battery run with a half-blended smoothie inside 🫠 and it has a plastic bottom (to replace the blade-part with if you want to drink straight from the cup) but the connection seam is really difficult/annoying to get clean, so I don’t like to unscrew it/switch the bottom while there’s smoothie that can drip into that part.

Gimmick, I like a gadget, and as someone with a physical disability, I though it would be helpful, but alas no. My one was so awkward to attach and detach and clean, it didn’t last long

  24. OstentatiousSock

I don’t get it. I’ve never heard of a portable blender. Who needs to blend on the go? Where are you taking the blender?!

  25. dntmindmyimagination

I deffo always use my Ninja portable blender, I don’t always use it on the go, I use it at home too when I just wanna make a quick drink for myself without pulling out a whole blender. Plus I just drink directly from the blender once it’s done, saves washing an extra glass!

  26. HugsandHate

There’s a need for them to be portable?

  27. Is this a question or a bragging post? You seem to answer your own question? Care to promote it?

I bought the Ninja one and returned it almost immediately. After a full charge, it would blend one drink… Almost. Then it would need to be recharged.

  29. My dad travels a lot for work and uses his… until he lost it lol my guess is he left it a hotel

  30. gradstudent1234

It’s the setting it up that takes time the blending and actually just takes 30 seconds
