According to the organisation, it is has formed a specific group
that aims to consolidate the industry, provide a voice for its
representative and increase communications for producers and
distributors of cosmetic ingredients in France.

Dominique Rain, ASPA secretary general said that the move would
strengthen the industry’s national face, as well as giving it
representation through the EFfCI (European Federation for Cosmetic
Ingredients, of which the English and German national industry
bodies are major players.

The UK is represented by the Cosmetic Toiletry & Perfumery
Association, while Germany is represented by the Cosmetics,
Perfumery and Detergent Association – two highly organised and
pro-active bodies that are significant voices in teh EFfCI.

Following the example of the UK and German associations, ASPA
will become a member of EFfCI, filling what has until now been a
void concerning representation of the French cosmetics and
toiletries ingredients industry in Europe.

The ASPA says that the new group will be collaborating on
projects that will include harmonising practices, lobbying work to
defend industry issues, increasing the visibility of the industry
on both a national and a European basis, as well as sharing the
costs for complying with EU initiatives such as REACH.

EFfCI was created in 2000 and represents more than 100
companies, including some of the biggest industry players. It aims
to unite the European producers of cosmetic ingredients, both
natural and synthetic, disseminating information and advice about
arrange of issues including the compliance of EU regulations.

“On top of encouraging other French companies to join the
group in an official manner, and with a stronger national image,
the presence of a French industry group within EFfCI will also
consolidate the structure of our European federation and make it
even more representative,” said Luigi Carinelli, vice president
of EFfCI.

“Via their national association, our French colleagues will
occupy a position better suited to the importance of the French
cosmetic ingredient industry” he added.
