Chocoflan (half cake, half flan), otherwise known as “the impossible cake.” It gets it name from the fact you pour in the cake batter first before gently pouring over the custard. In the oven due to density differences, the flan floats to the bottom (top of the cake) when baking. Makes for a very pretty and impressive looking cake.
Note: many people “cheat” by pre-baking the flan on its own for a bit before pouring the cake batter. Baked as usual. There’s no visual or textural change from this method,but there’s a tad more reassurance that it won’t all mix together by accident somehow.
