A popular Italian restaurant in Raleigh
could soon relocate.
In a Facebook post, owners of Amedeo’s
Italian Restaurant said the building that houses the restaurant on Western Boulevard needs “significant
updates to operate long-term” and an upcoming road expansion could impact the
property, including losing critical parking.
Owners said the restaurant’s ownership group
is also the majority owner of the property and has begun exploring the “potential
sale of the site for future redevelopment.”
“We want to emphasize that any
redevelopment would take place over several years, and there are no immediate
changes to our operations,” the post read in part.
Amedeo’s has served the Raleigh
community, including generations of NC State fans, students and families, for
more than 60 years.
According to the post on Facebook, since 1963, it has
been a place where “traditions were built and lifelong memories were made.”
“Amedeo’s is part of Raleigh’s history
and part of all our family’s story,” the post continued.
If the company decides to move forward
with redevelopment, Amedeo’s owners said they will begin exploring opportunities
for a new location.
“Our goal would be to carry forward the
traditions, recipes, and welcoming atmosphere that have defined Amedeo’s for
generations,” the post read.
