I hope the “messy seafood served directly on the table” trope is still popular

Ive been to a ton of boils like this and prefer it than digging around in a pot.

This allows everyone to grab 1 of the 6 varieties of items in it

  2. GaptistePlayer

It’s funny how much these stupid methods are often filming a person who can’t do something as basic as dump food by tipping a pan

  3. PantsDontHaveAnswers

Jesus Christ DUMP IT IF YOU’RE GONNA DUMP IT

  4. outside_cat

It’s boiled seafood. This is normal. I don’t see an issue.

  5. ImGoingBackToMonke

it works with a real seafood boil, i dont know what this slop is

  6. IFeedSquirrelsAMA

jfc just put it in a trough at this point.

  7. Spritebubblegum

Im confused..they pour the food out on purpose and then act surprised 😯

  8. i always wonde rif this is a cost saving measure. since you have to wash the tablecloth anyways you save on the cleaning of plates

  9. DiverseVoltron

Their attempt to contain the butter with the tablecloth is admirable but pathetic.

  10. DistractionCitron

This is how you eat a seafood boil.

  11. Dayvfish

Nothing inherently wrong with a seafood boil but maybe have someone actually capable of flipping the pot over and not…

Why the hell did that take so long?

  13. Bob_12_Pack

The only stupid part of this is that they dumped the melted butter on the table, otherwise it would be normal for a seafood boil.

  14. valleypremium

Idgaf how or where anyone eats their seafood boil but whoever is holding that bowl is really pissing me off

  15. EticketJedi

I realize it’s traditional and there are reasons for it, but I have never understood the whole eat off the table part of seafood boils. I think it’s just an aesthetic thing with me.

    I’d still eat it regardless.

  16. TurbulentRole3292

Why not just leave it on the platter?  Nothing nore than a gimmicky presentation.

There’s a restaurant with that concept at Amsterdam city centre and it’s always crowded

  20. Hot melted butter on your lap completes the experience.

  21. Ill_Investment_7977

The only positive thing I could say about this is at least it looks like it was cooked and seasoned.

  22. Smiles-Bite

This isn’t stupid for a seafood boil; it’s a very long-standing tradition in a whole lot of places. What is stupid is spaghetti, salads, and potato salads… I have watched someone do it with ice cream, others with fries and chicken nuggets. Just blegh.

Might as well serve with style; try hitting the pan into your customer who is the “head of the table”, be sure to make more tips. Or if you tried pouring out the food from a ladder? That way you are ensured and guaranteed that everyone sitting in the table gets the splash damage, of course don’t forget to throw your pan at someone deserving. Don’t forget to execute the best customer service, elbow drop from the top of the ladder. More tips if you can break the table and win the employee of the month.

  24. ConsiderationHead556

It’s called shell out here in Malaysia and i always eat it

  25. donkey_cum_waterfall

Is that all minced garlic on top?

  26. Chuyzapatist

I’m pretty sure you still eat paella in the pan.

  27. zorggalacticus

They put the paper down for specifically this purpose. Most seafood boils do this. It’s gonna get eaten with your hands anyway. This way they can spread it out more and everybody can grab something without touching everything else too. The dud just sucks at dumping the food out for some reason.
