Seen these at my local Ollie’s. Looked up the brand and model and it an older model (Camp Chef SG 24) which explains why it’s being sold at Ollie’s’. Any one have experience with this specific brand (Camp Chef).Did I find a steal deal or is it only priced at $300 because it’s garbage.

I’ve learned when things are cheap they aren’t worth the money. Like the old saying goes if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.
my camp chef has been going for 13 years strong. def worth it at that price
Nab it
Go to the sub itself, type “sg24” in search, then “sg 24”. There are dozens of threads. Very quick scan, myself, they read more positive than negative..
I ve got the sg24 for the past 10 years. It’s really great product. Can you find a better one? Sure but by the day this one cost 800$.
My first Camp Chef was an SG24. Bought it off Woot for about $300. I used it for 5 years, gave it to my buddy when I moved and bought a Woodwind Pro, he continued using it for another 6 years. It took a tumble off his patio in a wind storm and was destroyed. That little grill was a workhorse. If you’re just getting into the wonderful world of pellet smokers, that one should be a great place to start.
Camp chef gets recommended a lot for their woodwind series, I’m not as familiar with the SG but it is a reputable brand. I was cross-shopping the higher end camp chefs with rectec and Weber when I was looking last year. Ollie’s usually ends up with overstock from other stores so maybe Home Depot or whoever wanted to get rid of these for the new model year. I wouldn’t say it’s priced cheap because it’s junk. I think new these were in the 700-800 range so it’s probably worth it.
Not a ridiculous deal for a discontinued model… but it’s a good quality grill.
I’ve been rocking a CampChef DLX for 15 years now. Rock solid.
Good to hear great feedback for CC.
I wouldn’t recommend camp chef to anyone.
Will having it make you more happy than paying will hurt: yes, else no.
if it has the gen 2 PID controller then that should be a decent buy
i got a zg 24 5 years ago for $350 with coupons and things and its still going strong
keep it covered and use decent pellets and itll be fine
i will say get some of that grill gasket felt stuff since the lid probably wont seal well by default.
I bought one at dick’s spring goods on sale and had it for 5 years before I upgraded to a new pellet grill. It still worked great at 5 years old.
Im a firm believer in you get what you pay for…
I have one too, it’s a good grill but struggles to get high temps. It takes 30+ minutes to hit 450° but it will get there eventually.

If you’re just getting started, should be fine.
Love my Camp Chef DLX
ive had this exact one for 5+ yrs
Honestly, I wouldn’t spend $300 on any Camp Chef product but you do you. Especially in the pellet grill market, they are bottom of the barrel. Great for introduction to pellet grilling though.
I would
Absolutely
Solid deal for sure. Paid $500 for my 24SG 4 years ago I think. I put a half cover over it when not in use, but leave it on our outdoor patio awning. A little bit of rust did show up around the bottom seams of the body after the first year or so, but I scraped and re-sprayed them and it’s been holding strong since then. Added a fireproof gasket to the lid to help it keep the smoke and heat in a bit better, which works extremely well.
Do it!!
Go buy a Weber Smokey Mountain instead.
Go for it!!!
Hell yeah l! Love mine!!! Can’t kill it!
I bought the side kick with mine and use the side kick a few times a week.
