I ordered some 2 gallon pots to give them some room, but I’m thinking my fresnos, jalapeños and Numex lemon spice are going to be huge by June 1 when I plant out.
Oh well, hopefully they make it and lesson learned- don’t start these varieties at the same time as the super hots.

Consider using nursery fabric bags, if you use plastic pots your plants will get rootbound and stress
RED CUP GANG SQUAD UP
Mine are the same size and I likely won’t be planting until around that time too. 😅 Slightly regretting starting them so early!
Don’t know how large they’ll grow, it’s my first year. I got 7 & 10 gal nursery bags. They will quickly outgrow 2 gal pots. Have read on this sub that 15 gallon nursery bags are the way to go. Dunno. Worst case is replant.
Are you hoping to keep them in those cups until then? If so, I hate to be the bad news bear, but they look like they’re growing great and will likely be mega root-bound if they aren’t up-potted by then. Looks like you have a ton of seedlings going!
I made a similar mistake – started too early and not sure what I’ll do! Thinking of trying to construct a sort of outdoor tent to protect them once it’s at least sort of warm enough outside
I’m not sure where you are or when your season to be able to move them outdoors would be but I do t see the issue here besides having to pot them up quicker.
These plants don’t have a defined life span where exactly x months after germinating they are going to die. Your ahead of the game as long as you keep them happy and they keep growing your going to have very large plants by the end of the season but there is no issue there they should produce very well
Yes, they will be quite large and the cups will not be suitable for their root mass if you are planning on planting and using that as their fertility base.
Yes they’ll be quite large by June 1. If you’re worried you’ll run out of room for them way before you can get them outside, you can slow them down a bit by cutting their fertilizer dosage in half, they’ll stay healthy but just not grow as aggressively until you’re ready.
Personally I would just keep them going full steam ahead, and just figure out the space problem if and when the time comes. Stock up on some 5 gallon pots.
You will need to pot up soon.
im in the same boat as you… similar sized plants that i put into 1 gal pots about a week ago. i was hoping they would last till mid-late may, but i think i will have my hands on a root bound mess… i dont have the room to pot up! worst comes to worst i give a few plants away
Yes, if you pot them up
