Cleaning smoker grates in the tub! First time I thought about trying this. Definitely easier to clean. But had to scrub the tub after!

Get a concrete mixing tub. The black plastic ones at the hardware store. Lye drain cleaner is effective but ammonia is cheaper. Pour in a cup of ammonia and enclose it in a big trash bag. The fumes break down carbon.
You don’t want that crap in your tub’s drain where you can’t scrub it

That looks gross. I’m going to give you a bit of advice when cleaning grates. Buy yourself a Mr BBQ Scrub Daddy brush. Whenever you’re done cooking and the grates are still hot, simply dunk the brush in cold water and watch all the food/grease disappear when scrubbing. It works 1000x better than your standard grill brush. It works well on griddles too!

You coulda bought a $3 tub from Walmart and done the same thing outside

1) my wife would kill me
2) my method is to just throw them on the gas grill and burn it all off. It’s the only thing I use gas for

Great way to clog your pipes, and scratch up/crack or otherwise damage your tub (I learned the latter the hard way cleaning my oven grates)

I bought a 3’x2’x1/2″ plastic cutting board for ribs and stuff. I was stoked until I realized I had no where to clean the damn thing except for outside with cold ass water like a caveman. There was no way I was putting it in the tub, although it did cross my mind.
