MEZŌ Mediterranean opened its doors last month at 551 High St. in Dedham Square. Co-owner George Panagopoulos also owns Dedham House of Pizza a few hundred feet away at 376 Washington St., which his family started 28 years ago.
Having the two restaurants so close to one another allows him to focus on both, cross-pollinating employees and products as necessary, he said.
The new restaurant’s name, MEZŌ, is inspired by the Greek word “Mesogeios,” which means Mediterranean. It sells Mediterranean favorites such as moussaka (beef and eggplant lasagna), pastitsio (baked Greek lasagna) and gemista (stuffed peppers), as well as housemade soups like avgolemono (lemon chicken) and fakes (lentils), roasted lemon potatoes and fasolakia (string beans).

Fast but fine: New Dedham restaurant, MEZŌ Mediterranean, has familiar owners
Olivia’s Kitchen, Somerville
Olivia’s Kitchen owner Simona Sbano started her restaurant career in Italy in 2012. She moved to the United States in 2021 and, two years later, she opened The Emporio Bakery in Stoneham, which grew into a café in 2025.
The menu at Olivia’s Kitchen, 711 Broadway, features Italian dishes such as brasato (red wine braised beef cheek, cipolline, onion and mashed potatoes), and pistachio, zucca e Guanciale (fresh paccheri pasta, pistachio pesto, pumpkin and crisy imported Guanciale)
Sumi House, Cambridge
This new Japanese restaurant has opened at 359 Huron Ave., former site of Fupo Café.
Sushi, naruto, shashimi, donburi, poke bowl, shumai, gyoza, soups, salads, ramen, udon, poke bowls, and tempura ice cream.are among the menu items offered daily.
Uno Pizzeria & Grill, Revere
After several recent closures, this Chicago deep dish pizza chain has reopened its Revere location at 399 Squire Road. It, along with locations in Dedham and Braintree, had closed two months ago.
According to NBC Boston, Amalia Korom, the Revere Uno Pizzeria general manager, bought the location, renovated it the reopened and brought back all of the employees.
Virginia’s Cafe & Market, Reading
This Portuguese-inspired coffee shop and specialty food market has opened at 26 Haven St.
According to its website, owner Jake Chaves named the café for his great-grandmother, Virginia, who was from Portugal. Chaves spent much of his childhood by her side, watching her bake countless loaves of massa for family and friends, and for sale at a local Portuguese store in Cambridge.
As he grew older, Chaves became her trusted helper, learning her cherished recipe firsthand as they baked together.
Brass Tap, Framingham
The Brass Tap Craft Beer Bar has opened at 770 Water St. According to its website, more than 60 beers are available on tap.
This is the first Massachusetts location for the national craft beer restaurant chain, which got its start in Florida in 2008.
According to The Brass Tap’s Facebook page, its mission is to create “a premium beer experience for the world” with local and national craft beers, elevated bar food American classics, cocktails, wine, community events and trivia nights.
Crack’d Kitchen & Coffee, Burlington
This breakfast and brunch restaurant has opened 10 Fourth Ave. According to its website, Crack’d Kitchen is a culinary-driven eatery “inspired by the love of the breakfast sandwich and a need to give the community one they truly deserve.”
Its menu features 12 egg sandwiches, including the porker (cage-free fried egg, maple sausage, swiss, maple mustard, caramelized onions, brioche); as well as bowls, plates, mac bowls, soup; and coffee and tea beverages, including frozen drinks and energizers.
Flying Boar Pizza & Kitchen, Walpole
Flying Boar Pizza & Kitchen has opened at 975 Old Post Road. Its menu features pizza, wings, empanadas and Caribbean-inspired sandwiches called “sangos,” served with Plantain chips such as porchetta with a guava maple glaze, pickled fennel sazon herb ranch on homemade sourdough sliced bread.
Formosa Bun & Dumpling Factory, Newton
Formosa Bun & Dumpling Factory has opened at 740A Beacon St., specializing in Taiwanese cuisine. According to its website, owner Kristina Pan’s journey began in Taiwan, “where the aroma of her father’s record-setting Formosa buns sparked a lifelong passion.”
After three decades in New York, managing successful sushi chains and her own restaurants, Pan is dedicated to sharing her family’s beloved Formosa buns, with a wider audience, according to the website.
Formosa Bun’s menu features dumplings, bao, ramen, yakisoba, and beef noodle soup.
Prime 41, Chelmsford
A new steakhouse has opened at 41 Central Square in a building built in 1896 by the Odd Fellows Building Association. The first floor was originally a general store, with the second floor serving as a meeting hall. In later years it became a bakery, ice cream parlor and shoemaker’s shop.
Besides black angus meat such as filet mignon, New York strip and bone-in ribeye, double-cut pork chop, veal schnitzel, rack of lamb and chicken Milanese are also on the menu.
Vig Kitchen & Bar, Woburn
Vig Kitchen & Bar has opened at 487-489 Main St. The formerly space of The Restaurant has been renovated with stylish and sophisticated black and red décor, such as a sketch of a woman wearing headphones and sunglasses.
Craft cocktails are the focus of the menu with fun names such as “Head in the clouds” and “The Bitch Slap.”
A simple menu offers appetizers and mains such as a lamb burger, Cape Cod mussels, pizza and salad.
According to the website, the VIG “redefines the sports experience.”
“It is not a sports bar, but an elegant destination for those who appreciate the art of the game and the craft of fine dining.”
