The newly opened Hall Park Hotel was designed to capture sunlight. On the ground floor, floor-to-ceiling windows showcase views of Kailedescope Park. On pleasant days, they slide open to create an alfresco dining experience at Palato Italian Kitchen and Lounge, the hotel’s flagship culinary venue—the natural light results in a cheery ambiance that is sometimes lacking in luxury hotels.

The hotel, situated in Frisco, Texas, is part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, a portfolio of independent properties renowned for individuality and distinctive experiences. Hall Park Hotel is the latest property from Kathryn and Craig Hall, the husband-and-wife duo behind Hall Group, which also includes the Hall Arts Hotel in Dallas. Additionally, the couple owns Hall and Walt Wines in Napa, and their passion for wine and art informs the Hall Park Hotel experience. Coury Hospitality, the team responsible for the remarkable Hotel Vin in Grapevine, manages the property.

As I accepted a complimentary glass of welcome wine, my eyes were drawn behind the front desk to a brightly hued abstract wall installation by Katherine Tsu-Lan Mann. In all, the Hall Park Hotel features over 100 pieces of public art, transforming even simple acts, like checking in, into an extraordinary experience.

Hall Park Hotel’s main culinary venue, Palato Italian Kitchen and Lounge, is more than just a restaurant – it’s the heartbeat of the hotel. The menu is centered around Italian cuisine, lovingly prepared in an exhibition-style kitchen. Highlights include handmade pastas, hearth-fired pizzas, and an extensive wine list. At dinner, can’t-miss dishes include the house-made pesto garlic braid and tagliatelle with braised wild boar. A vegan menu is also available. Palato also serves breakfast, brunch, and lunch. Don’t miss the blueberry jam muffins and housemade pastries in the morning.

Palato Italian Kitchen and Lounge hosts a regular calendar of events, ranging from pasta-making classes to a “decorate-your-own-trucker-hat” and cocktail-making class. Additional culinary events at Hall Park Hotel include multicourse winemaker dinners featuring renowned vintners.

Other dining options at Hall Park Hotel include light bites and crafted cocktails at Parkside Pool and Bar, located on the rooftop.

The 224 guest rooms at Hall Park Hotel include 60 “The Reserve” suites, each featuring a kitchenette and a balcony overlooking Kaleidoscope Park. My King Bed Signature Suite was sleek, modern, and intentionally designed for longer stays, featuring a fully stocked kitchenette with shiny new appliances and ample counter space. A separate living area provided a space to work and relax, and I enjoyed my morning coffee on a generously sized balcony.

And of course, no visit to Hall Park Hotel would be complete without a stroll through Kaleidoscope Park, where green spaces, gardens, and playgrounds are interspersed with large-scale works of art and a regular calendar of free entertainment. Also nearby, the Texas Sculpture Garden features more than 40 contemporary sculptures, all free of charge. Kaleidoscope Park and the Texas Sculpture Gardens are part of Hall Park, a project of Hall Group.
