These are insanely addictive. my boyfriend loves them and they're super easy to make. also a great use of discard.

recipe:

100G of discard and 2 tbs of melted butter

mix together, spread thin on parchment paper/silicon baking mat and bake at 350° until crispy.

Take it out halfway and score into squares so you can snap them apart once they're cooled.

These are the best way to use discard imo!! I like to add Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder and a pinch of salt and pepper into the batter before it bakes

  3. jbirdbear

What are you topping/seasoning them with, and where in the process are you adding it in?

This sounds amazing and I have discard to use. I have only made it twice but oh so good.

  5. isle_say

Brilliant! I will definitely give this recipe a try.

I made a batch of crackers yesterday and…oops…ate nearly the entire thing fresh out of the oven…

My household LOVES discard crackers. I’m team Tiny Starter though so I have to intentionally make enough discard a day or two before I want the crackers 😂

  8. Brave_Second8876

How long do you usually bake it for?

  9. Zvezda_24

Wow thank you for this idea! I always end up with too much discard and no idea what to do with it. I will for sure be trying this out.

Edit: how long should they be baked for?

  10. mutinouspuffin

About how long does it take in your oven? I’m dying to try these

These always turn out great! I use 100% dark rye flour (added to the discard, plus water and salt, of course) and about a teaspoon of ground-up caraway seeds. I cut them into rounds using the top of a steel cocktail shaker. Sprinkle with sea salt & bake until crispy.

I’m eating some while reading this thread 🙃🙂🙃

So, when you guys use jalapenos, do you remove the seeds before or do them all included?

  14. a1exia_frogs

I mix in linseeds & sesame seeds and somes times chilli flakes. Every batch is different, I never get sick of them

This looks so much easier than other discard crackers I have tried, and they always scorch too. I am excited to try yours!

I’m gonna have to try this. I currently make crackers discard, butter, and flour. But I have a hard time getting them rolled out evenly.

This sounds like it could be a lot easier.

  17. Libby1436

I wonder if you could use olive oil instead of butter? Anybody know?

  18. I’m dying to make these but I currently have braces and can’t eat hard things – supposed to have them off in a year so biding my time.

  19. KWildman92

I need to start up a starter again, probably will start on my summer break but at what point can i use the discard for the crackers?

  20. Smart-Daisy-21

Ive almost gotten to the point where I’m just feeding my starter so that I can make crackers instead of the bread!
