How common is it that XL’s crack? I bought it used, how likely are they to warranty? Am I cooked? I don’t believe I used it in a manner that would cause such.

Ive replaced an xl base under warranty. Had a bad install. yall make sure to elevate your egg! I’ve used the nest for 10 years with no issues!

In 25 years, I’ve lost a base almost as bad as your’s, and 2 fire bowls.

The firebox is sacrificial, unfortunately the outer shell isn’t.

BGE isn’t going to honor warranty past first owner. You could buy a new base, but really your better if getting a “new” used BGE and keep this one for parts.
Or
You know you like it, so replace with new and have peace if mind with warranty

You can buy a new base and it will come with warranty if it ever breaks again. This is by far the most expensive piece to replace.
