GREATER DECATUR, Ga. — A Tex-Mex restaurant chain based in Florida is opening its first Georgia location at the Pea Ridge space in Greater Decatur.
Guaca-Mole will open at 2607 Larenceville Highway in about a month, franchise owner Sam Patel said. Crews have been working on the space daily for the last few weeks.
“It’s a Chipotle concept, but we have a lot more options than Chipotle. We have vegan food and some extra items besides the usual,” he said.
The menu features standard Tex-Mex fare, including bowls, burritos, quesadillas and tacos. The restaurant will feature a full bar, Patel said.
Pea Ridge has been closed since December 2024. The space has attracted interest but sat empty until Guaca-Mole arrived. The family-founded franchise was started in Florida in 2018 and has five other locations in Florida and Texas. The company’s website said two friends started the franchise and it gained a following.
“Slowly, people noticed,” the company’s website said. “Word spreads quickly when food hits the right balance — big flavor without feeling heavy, portions that actually satisfy, and a menu that feels simple but delivers every time.”
The restaurant chain is eyeing new locations in Illinois, New York, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania. The company offers two models: one designed for mall food courts and one that is free-standing, like the Greater Decatur location. That space is 2,200 square feet and can seat about 86 people, including bar and patio seating, according to a listing published when Pea Ridge was seeking a buyer.
“Florida is only the beginning. New cities, new kitchens, and new teams will continue building the same concept that started with two friends and a simple belief: fresh food and honest flavor will always win,” the company’s website said.
Patel said customers can expect some specials when the restaurant officially opens.
