  1. Bringing back memories of watching Gramma & aunts making Sarma all day for all of the family (our Croatian version of this dish). 😋

  2. I've been wanting cabbage rolls for awhile now. Ty Pasquale. My mother's Polish, too.❤ My mom used her glass pie plate 😂. It's still not ready to eat, yet, after all these years stewing in the cabbage roll pot. 😂.

  3. This is not a Polish recipe, it is a Russian dish, it appeared in Poland at the time when Poland was a province of the Russian Empire.

  4. I'm from an Italian family but when I was little, I thought I stuffed cabbage was Italian because everyone in my family made it! We even called it by its Polish name. I've lived in Pittsburgh all my life and here, everybody loves Polish food!

  5. I am Italian on both sides. I grew up in a Polish neighborhood, and went to a Catholic school that was pretty much all Polish (a few other Italians went there, a couple of Germans), in a Polish parish. Our Polish next-door neighbor (all of our neighbors were Polish) made the best stuffed cabbage, and always gave us a roaster-full when she made it. My first spouse was Polish, and when I'd go to their house for a holiday or other family event, I got the best stuffed cabbage, homemade pierogis, and homemade kielbasa with saurkraut I've EVER had. And that was over 40 years ago. To this day, I've never had saurkraut as good ANYWHERE. Such good memories even though we divorced 28 years ago.

  6. My volga german in laws call this galuski. Same thing. Also good with ground pork. I use less liquid for the cook. More tomato sauce in the meat and rice mix. No chicken stock just tomato sauce. Serve with mashed potatoes.

  7. My dad worked at the old dinners in Brooklyn. He would make this all the time. I would watch him roll them and sometimes help him. I'm going to make this 😊
