And it’ll be doing a modern spin on traditional flavours
Named after the Çintemani motif (three stacked circles arranged in a triangle and parallel wavy lines) used in Ottoman art to represent power, luck and protection, Chintemani is looking to blend a respect for tradition with a modern approach to Mediterranean food. It’s coming from the Bemse Group, which has a number of different brands, including a chocolate shop, an Italian restaurant, a NOLA-inspired concept and Turkish spots, across Turkiyë, and a Turkish restaurant in NYC.
Though it’s being billed as a Mediterranean restaurant, the menu leans heavily Turkish, with dishes including:
aged feta, watermelon and cantaloupe saladolive, tomato and za’atar hummuskale tabbouleh with caramelised goat’s cheese and Granny Smith applepotato shakshuka with smoked garlic yogurt and black garlic aiolitantuni on pide with isot aiolitahini piyaz with homemade meatballsentrecote döner bites with tomato sauce and garlic yoghurt diphomemade spicy sucuk, kashkaval cheese and egg yolk sourdough pidecouscous prawns with paprika butterliquid nitrogen Turkish maraş ice cream with a peanut butter cookie
With Lokal headed for Fitzrovia, are we looking at the start of a new Turkish restaurant boom?
