A famed Greek dining destination is set to make its Massachusetts debut later this year.
Avra Estiatorio, the renowned national brand born in New York City, is expected to open in Boston by spring 2026. The opening will mark the brand’s eighth location nationwide.
“We’re thrilled to introduce the same warm Greek hospitality and exceptional Mediterranean seafood that have defined Avra for decades to the Boston community,” owner Nick Tsoulos said in a press release. “Boston has long been a city we’ve admired, and we’re excited to finally share our tradition and energy in the heart of Back Bay.”
Avra Estiatorio will open at the recently opened Lyrik development in Back Bay. Located on the second floor, the space will have seating for up to 250 people across the main dining room, bar and three private dining spaces.
Floor-to-ceiling windows will fill the space with light while design accents — including a salt wall installation, Greek amphoras and sculptural olive trees — will add Mediterranean charm. There will also be an outdoor patio ideal for alfresco seating.

Meanwhile, Avra’s menu will focus on dishes inspired by the coastal Greek town of Nafpaktos, where Tsoulos is from. The menu offers tons of fresh seafood dishes from branzino and black sea bass to fagri and lithrini.
Other signature dishes include Avra Chips — thinly sliced zucchini and eggplant lightly fried to a crisp — and Chilean Seabass Souvlaki served over roasted red pepper sauce. Traditional desserts such as olive oil and walnut cakes, baklava and custard will also be available.
The address for Avra Estiatorio will be 400 Newbury St., Boston. The restaurant will open daily for dinner to start before adding lunch and brunch.
