The Feast checked out Bar Celine’s new weekly mixology course last Tuesday where bar manager Scott Melton schools guests on how to craft cocktails using a different type of liquor each week. “The class gives people the opportunity to become more interactive with their drinking experience,” says Scott. “It’s not about making margaritas and pounding shots. It’s about widening your breadth of knowledge.”
Last week’s lesson included tequila, so Scott filled us in on the history of the spirit while showing us how to make three different original creations made with Patron—the L.A. Woman, Rosemary’s Baby and St. Jalisco. All three are made with fresh ingredients like rosemary, picked from the bar’s garden, and candied ginger. We were also treated to a sampling of flatbreads and Mediterranean appetizers from the bar’s restaurant Park.
Guests left with an inexpensive buzz, full belly and goodie bag stuffed with samples of ginger and rosemary, drink recipes and a small bottle of Patron Anejo. The free classes are offered every Tuesday from 6-7:15 p.m. If you missed the event, stop in tonight for a redo of last week’s cocktails. One lucky raffle prize winner will be gifted with a 1.75 liter bottle of Patron that usually retails for $130.
