I’ve eaten at Luthun in the East Village twice now and both times were a delight! I feel that this restaurant is underrated in the NYC fine dining scene. Chef Nahid clearly takes pride in what he does. I chose to post pictures from my first visit because I liked the food slightly better that time, but both visits were special. I highly recommend booking the chefs counter.
Standout bites from this visit were the fushka (which I failed to get a picture of), the squid, and the crab porridge.
The sommelier Jahdea is also awesome.

Glad to hear you had such a great time. I went last year and really enjoyed my meal. Btw when did they start doing take home menus?
Agreed with everything you said, esp the somm being awesome
Somm and the staff are great. Food is outstanding. The problem and why it likely doesn’t get any real accolades is Chef had a temper and is abusive to the staff, publicly. Throws things and says pretty awful stuff. Only happened once out of my 5 visits, the last one, but that was enough and won’t go anymore. Unfortunate, because his food is genius and I still think about it. But that kind is behavior is unfortunate and unacceptable.
