Wine industry communicator, Jane Thomson OAM, has authored the Post-CSW70 Insights Report, which gives Australian wine businesses access to new, sector‑specific insights exploring how gender equity can support stronger innovation, talent retention and business performance.

The report draws on key themes from the 70th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70), translating global gender equity discussions into practical considerations for wine industry workplaces.

It examines how these themes apply in real-world business contexts and outlines approaches for implementation that are relevant, achievable and fit for purpose.

Thomson said: “Global conversations can feel distant from day-to-day work.

“What matters is how these ideas show up in real workplaces – in leadership decisions, team culture and the systems we rely on. This report is about helping the wine sector connect global context to practical action.”

The Post-CSW70 Insights Report complements the Australian Wine Industry Gender Equity Toolkit, an evidence-based resource developed by Wine Australia and Australian Grape & Wine to support wine businesses in strengthening workplace practices over time.

To further explore the Toolkit’s application in current operating conditions, Wine Australia will host an online session, Better ideas, stronger teams: the business case for gender equity. The discussion will bring together industry representatives, including contributors from Australian Women in Wine and the Diversity, Equality and Inclusion in Wine Committee of Australian Grape & Wine.

The session will examine the relationship between inclusive team structures and innovation outcomes, the role of gender equity in attracting and retaining talent, and how workforce diversity aligns with evolving consumer demographics. It will also provide practical guidance on how businesses and individuals can apply the Toolkit within their own operations.

Designed for stakeholders across the wine value chain, the session will focus on practical insights and lived experience, addressing shared challenges across the industry while outlining actionable approaches to workplace inclusion.

The Post-CSW70 Insights Report is available now. The ‘Better ideas, stronger teams: the business case for gender equity’ webinar will be held online on Tuesday, 28 April, register here.
