April 20 is nearly here, meaning weed smokers everywhere will be celebrating.

It’s the unofficial holiday for marijuana users, and it falls on April 20 every year. The origins of the day are unclear. Some say it comes from a police code for marijuana possession, and others claim it stems from Bob Dylan’s “Rainy Day Women No. 12 & 35,” as the number 420 is the product of 12 times 35.

Another theory is that the day originated from a group of hippies who would meet after class at their California high school at 4:20 p.m. every day to smoke a joint. One of the group was reportedly friends with a member of the Grateful Dead, and the term took off from there.
