Rosheen Kaul’s never been one for sitting still. Since leaving the kitchen at Hot Listed restaurant Etta, she’s published her second cookbook, briefly taken over Sydney restaurant Porcine, released her own merch, headlined two events for Broadsheet’s inaugural Dine Out festival last year and run a month-long pop-up, Bistro Marigold, out of Armadale restaurant Zia Rina’s Cucina.
Are we surprised she’s onto the next thing? Yeah, nah.
Little Rose, her next pop-up, will run for two months at 274 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy in collaboration with acclaimed bartender Joe Jones. Yes, that’s the address that once housed Alta Trattoria. More recently, it’s morphed into one of the most dynamic dining rooms in the city thanks to pop-ups with Pipis Kiosk and Sydney pasta hotspot Ragazzi (which ends on May 3).
Kaul and Jones will get underway just six days later, serving their first guests on May 9. Details are relatively scant for now. We know it’ll be French-Asian, with a more casual, youthful energy compared to Marigold. Jones is keeping the cocktails classic, with some subtle twists.
Bookings are open for Little Rose. We’ll have more details about the menu and concept as they’re revealed in coming days. Check back soon.
Little Rose opens at 274 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy on May 9.
