Zucchini seedling’s first true leaf wilted, will the plant die?

We have been having some strong gusts of wind come through today along with some cooler weather (50s – 60s F, usually we are 70s – 80s F). I have a tp roll sheltering the seedling as it's been growing outside by itself in a planter box but the roll along with the plant was completely tipped over by the wind for a few hours and I noticed the first true leaf that was growing appears pinched off and as a result it wilted. 🙁

It's my first plant. Is it going to be okay and what should I do? I placed the tp roll back and mounded up some dirt to secure it better but I wonder if I should just take it out now.

Also noticed the seed/starter leaves are curling down now too. Could the curling be due to the wind?

    I’m convinced if you had salted boiling water running continuously over zucchini, it would still somehow survive

    Thats pretty chilly for a zucchini, when temps are cold I would use a breathable cover for the plant, the leaves need to be protected and the toilet roll isn’t providing the coverage. Zucchini likes warm/hot weather and night temps 55 and over at least

    It’ll be fine. The new leaf looks okay and the main stem isn’t damaged.

    No it will not die. The new leaf is poised to pop out soon

    It looks like the leaf is just coming out. How long has it been like this? Curling is probably a plants defense response to wind. I wouldn’t worry too much.

    The new growth is still coming in. That’s the termination point you should be focusing on.

    Looks like that leaf’s stalk just got snapped or chomped. The next one is coming in fine. They’re pretty tough. You’re good.

    You’re fine! My cat ate my zucchini’s first true leaf and a new one just popped on out and continued growing. It grew at the same rate as my zucchini plants with non-eaten leaves lol

    If the main stem isn’t snapped, it can definitely recover. That pinched leaf might die off, but as long as the center growing point is intact, a new leaf will pop out soon.
