Another tin from my Comur/Fantastic World of Portuguese Sardines haul. The flavor was good. Nicely salted, garlicky, and just a bit spicy. But the texture? Not ideal. If you've ever had a rehydrated dried scallop, it was kinda like that. Chewy, a bit fibrous, and kinda dry. As you can tell from the pasta I added it to, it also had a *really* unappealing color, almost gray? My husband (who doesn't like tinned fish as much as I do) actually left them on the plate because he found them so unappetizing. 3/10
I've tried a few of the tins from The Fantastic World of Portuguese Sardines now and I can definitely say that I fell for the tourist trap! They're pretty pricy (I still haven't cracked open my $50 lobster…) and the flavors/textures are always kinda mid. There are a bunch of cheaper Portuguese tins that taste twice as good!

What are your favorite Portuguese tins? I’ve stuck to Comur’s sardines (my mother in law got me a variety pack and a box of sardines with sweet peppers when she went to Portugal) and I’ve been pretty impressed with the flavors and textures. I don’t think they’re worth the price by any means, but I haven’t been disappointed so far at least!
First time seeing canned Shrimp. The plate looks appetising tbh. a shame they feel dry
Wow, first I’m seeing it on the thread so thank you for the review, and saving us from having to try it 🙂 Too bad considering the expense, but great way to incorporate tinned fish into recipes. I do that with the razor clams and scallops.
