Pistachio salad? That’s Watergate salad! My mom still makes it every couple of years for thanksgiving. I always enjoy a good scoop or two, and then promptly forget about it until the next time it shows up. 😆

My mother’s family has a similar potato salad recipe, but with pickles and pickle juice. The raw onion is finely diced. Depending on who in the family made it, the pickles were dill or sweet. You can extrapolate who use miracle whip as opposed to mayonnaise. One aunt adds ketchup (as she does to tuna salad 🤢). Any way, you combine and it sits for 12+ hours for flavors to meld.
