Online restaurant reservation platform OpenTable has revealed a list of the top brunch and lunch spots in Canada ahead of Mother’s Day and two York Region eateries made the cut.
OpenTable’s Top 100 Brunch and Lunch Restaurants in Canada for 2026 list is based on more than one million reviews by verified OpenTable diners.
The list uses dining metrics from March 1, 2025, to Feb. 28, 2026. More than half the list is made up of Ontario restaurants.
Mother’s Day is on Sunday, May 10, and reservations are filling up fast. Here are the top spots to bring mom in York Region, according to OpenTable.
LOCALE in Aurora (14845 Yonge St.) is the sister restaurant of LOCALE King City. The eatery describes itself as an energetic neighbourhood restaurant and bar with a chef-led scratch kitchen. LOCALE delivers an Italian focused menu along with handcrafted cocktails and a notable wine list.
Popular dishes on the menu include lasagna Bolognese and Margherita pizza. Diners can expect to spend about $31 to $50 per person.
LOCALE Aurora has a 4.8 rating out of 5 on OpenTable. Reviewers have praised LOCALE for its cosy ambience, excellent service and delicious Italian food.
Described as a neighbourhood spot serving up modern takes on Italian classics, Il Postino (186 Main St., Unionville) is also known for authentic Italian fare.
Some of its most popular dishes, according to OpenTable, are rigatoni vodka, steak frites and Margherita pizza. Diners can enjoy a pasta meal for about $30, while entrees like steak frites, chicken parmigiana or Branzino (European sea bass) range from $39 to $56.
The restaurant has a 4.7 rating on OpenTable. Diners have recommended the eatery for its consistent food quality and delicious homemade pastas.
