I sliced the oranges and coated them in sugar first so they wouldn’t taste bitter after baking. Then I placed the slices on top of cookies of roughly the same size and baked them together. Finally, I dipped them in chocolate sauce—and they were ready!
I didn’t slice the oranges very neatly though 😭

How were they? Texture, flavor, and would you do anything different??9
Cookies? These are chokolate dipped oranges and not cookies
don’t they taste bitter from the peel still being attached?
The Oranges don’t look candied enough, in my experience undercooked peel can taste acrid and bitter
You likely need to actually candy the oranges first
I’m not sure about the texture together even then. But if you like it, I love it.
Interesting!
Did the sugar work? Did it actually cancel out the pith taste?
Edit: sorry I should have read the other comments first, ignore mee
Have a kitchen torch? Could brulee them like you would for grapefruit
these look gorgeous, very well done! it’s a shame that the orange peel was still a little bitter, but good luck in your next attempts. I wanna give it a go >:)
Boiling the orange slices first draws out the bitterness from the pith.
Beautiful! What type of cookies, and did you find they all complemented each other well?
really cute idea and presentation!
I LOVE orange this is right up my street. But i know that peel tastes bad. You should’ve shaved the peel finely and mixed it in the cookie
What was the cookie base? Sugar cookies?
These are interesting! I love orange chocolate cookies. That’s a a lot of rind. Maybe use the zest instead in the dough? Or thinner slices?
I feel like the cookie to orange to chocolate ratio is a little off for me, especially with so much pith
These look interesting. Orange chocolate combos are always a win.
This could be you’re “signature” cookie if you play around with the recipe and techniques.
