We have a large item trash day in our neighborhood, and someone was throwing this out. The unit seems to be in decent shape, but the guts are out. I’ve never used one so I’m not really familiar with what might be missing.
Any advice on whether it’s worth salvaging, the best place to get parts upgrades, etc.?

Hey! It looks like you posted an image!
If this is a photo of one of your cooks, maybe share the recipe and techniques
used, as it’s almost guaranteed one of the first questions you will be asked!
*What seasoning did you use?
*How long did you cook it, and at what temperature?
*Did you use any special tricks or techniques?

I suspect something minor failed, previous owner attempted to ‘fix’ it but got overwhelmed or otherwise lost interest.
With a little patience, elbow grease and some research I bet that sucker will work just fine.
He probably clogged his auger and was unable to fix it 🙂 I have a similar project, in which I plan to apose an offset fire chamber…
Absolutely.
Motor, control panel and fan- under 100 bucks.
Heat shield, drip pan another 60
For good measure since it’s out. Replace the fire box for 20.
Give
Yourself 2 hours for learning it and applying the knowledge, and you have a good way to spend your summer.

Worth a try. I’m just speculating, but I bet the auger failed, it looks pretty corroded / shitty
My first pellet grill was a roadside trager. Replaced the blower fan and it’s been good with no issues for like 6 years
Can you refurbish this? Absolutely, if you have the hopper. Seems suspiciously absent from those photos
