A friend recently gifted me a big green egg that she rarely used. I need to re attach the lid but it looks like I might be missing some pieces? Any help is appreciated!

What did they do to that poor BGE?!
Those bands are way over tightened. I would carefully check the dome/base for cracks.
And the hinge assembly looks bent. Maybe they bent it somehow while open (no idea how) and then removed bolts to get it closed again? You may be able to unbend the affected parts, but I would remove from the egg before attempting this. But I would probably just figure our what size this is then order the Band Assembly Kit for this size (e.g. for the Large Egg: [https://biggreenegg.com/products/large-band-assembly-kit](https://biggreenegg.com/products/large-band-assembly-kit) )

To avoid the spread of any misinformation. Those bent bolts are suppose to be like that according to the BGE website installing new bands.
You should be able to simply reassembly and be fine. Sure they could be bad bands but I’d try putting it together first.

The only issue I can see is that some of the nuts/bolts are missing. I suggest asking your friend about it to see if she’s able to give details that will help you know how to resolve it.
It could be as simple of replacing the missing nuts/bolts and if there’s a missing spring. If she was having alignment issues or you don’t want to mess with seeking replacements, you could buy the new ring assembly kit.

Unfortunately it’s not salvageable. For safety reasons, please provide your address and I’ll see that it’s properly disposed off.
You hit the jack pot.

Do you have two of those springs? You need two.

I would just buy new bands for it. It’s cheap peace of mind.
