Italy is the world’s leading wine producer, representing 22 percent of the global market, confirming our strong global positioning. In 2025, exports reached €7,8 billion, reflecting an evolving context: consumption habits are changing and demand is increasingly focused on quality. This is the finding of the Focus On “Wine Sector,” an analysis by SACE’s research department that provides a snapshot of Italian wine trends and exports, during Vinitaly in Verona. The United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom—SACE emphasizes—remain the main destination countries, together accounting for nearly 50 percent of exports.
New markets, such as Eastern Europe, Brazil, and Vietnam, are showing growing interest in Italian wine. In Italy, the analysis specifies, Veneto leads exports, followed by Tuscany and Piedmont, while new production areas are strengthening their presence abroad. This excellence is supported by 79 DOCGs and widespread quality, further enhanced by the support of SACE, which supports Italian companies, protecting them from risks and facilitating access to financing for investment in growth and competitiveness.
