The iconic West Hollywood Italian restaurant addressed citations quickly.

Historic West Hollywood eatery Dan Tana’s resumed service last week following a three-day closure mandated by county health officials due to sanitary violations.

The legendary Italian restaurant, a Santa Monica Boulevard staple for six decades, was ordered to shutter on April 15 after an inspection by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. Records indicate the facility was cleared to reopen on April 18 after addressing the cited issues.

According to health department reports, the establishment was penalized with an 11-point deduction for a “vermin infestation.” This classification is used when inspectors detect the presence of insects, rodents, or birds within a food service environment.

The inspection also revealed a four-point violation regarding food contact surfaces. This citation suggests that preparation areas, such as counters and cutting boards, were not being maintained according to the county’s hygiene and sanitation requirements.

Management for the celebrated venue, known for its high-profile clientele and red-sauce classics, appeared to move swiftly to remediate the conditions, passing a follow-up inspection within 72 hours.
