For those who may think French restaurants get a bad rap in Houston, here’s something different. In summer 2026, a French chain of cafés and bakeries called Café Feuillette is opening its first U.S. location in Houston.
It also happens to be Café Feuillette’s fifth location and its first internationally. The Café Feuillette will be inside the River Oaks District retail center at 4444 Westheimer Road, though it’s unclear of its exact location. The bakery and cafe will feature a “made-in-house” menu that includes salads, sandwiches, madeleines, canelés, brioches, and other baked French things. The beverage menu also has something called “pastry drinks,” which are inspired by classic desserts like vanilla flan and Paris-Brest.
Jean-François Feuillette opened his first bakery in Blois, France, in 2009. According to a press release, Feuillette, a pastry chef by trade, now represents around 100 bakeries in the country. The Houston location is the start of a larger push in the U.S.
“The potential for growth in the U.S. is endless,” Feuillette said in a prepared statement. “We are passionate about showcasing our French know-how to Americans, and this is just the beginning.”
It’s not often that a French restaurant or eatery opens in Houston, especially as others have closed. The past two years have seen some remarkable departures, including PS-21, Eau Tour, Bistro Menil, White Elm Brasserie and, most recently, Artisans.
It’s not all glum, however. There have been a few openings and some more on the horizon, including Chrôma in the former Bistro Menil space and Charolais in The Woodlands.
