AVONDALE ESTATES, Ga. — This year’s Avondale Estates Wine & Art Walk on Saturday, May 9, was bigger than ever.
Hosted by the Avondale Estates Downtown Development Authority, the annual event featured 30 local businesses that transformed their storefronts into wine-tasting stations.
The authority partners with the Avondale Arts Alliance, which arranges art and entertainment experiences throughout the city.
“It is an awesome annual event that celebrates art and music and wine, and it also encourages folks to stop by local businesses and support them. It’s a great fun community event,” said Isadora Pennington, founding director of the Avondale Arts Center and president of the Avondale Arts Alliance.
She called the event “a true community effort” involving the city’s town green, businesses and local breweries.
“You can walk all the way from Santo to Kafenio and experience dozens of local artists, musicians and performers, and maybe find something fun to take home for your mom,” Pennington said.
Rakiya Johnson, who was attending the event for the first time with Tianna Lyles, said, “This is great.”
“We get to explore local shops at our leisure and not be rushed,” Johnson said.
