There are no shortage of visually impressive and culinary hotspots in Berlin, and new ones are popping up every day. From cafés serving matcha crepe cake to viral New York-style sushi sticks or kunafa sandwiches, the capital city consistently proves that it can easily keep up with food trends. But creating a place that is creative, atmospheric, and inviting all at once is more difficult than simply serving good food. This is exactly what the new Mediterranean-Turkish restaurant Of Eden in Friedrichshain achieves, where the indoor and outdoor areas, the dishes, and the ambiance come together almost perfectly.

The restaurant, located directly on the Spree in the modern Dockyard complex, combines southeastern Turkish, Oriental, and Mediterranean cuisine with an extremely elaborate interior concept that is already going viral online. The restaurant’s concept feels significantly more cinematic than classic Berlin dining. Inside, raw industrial elements meet warm lighting, open fireplaces, dark materials, and a spacious open kitchen. This creates a blend of fine dining, cocktail lounge, and futuristic loft restaurant. Especially in the evening, the atmosphere reminds many more of modern restaurants in Dubai, Istanbul, or London than of typical Berlin spots.

The menu combines traditional family recipes with modern fine-dining and fusion influences. The offerings include, among other things, Oriental meze, fresh sourdough naan, various grilled dishes, köfte, modern pide variations, creamy dips, and dishes featuring pomegranate and pistachio elements. The concept is complemented by elaborately presented cocktails, which are also an important part of the overall experience.

A major part of the restaurant’s concept revolves around the open kitchen. Guests can watch the food being prepared right before their eyes, which makes the entire space feel much more lively and interactive. It is precisely this “open kitchen” concept that is frequently highlighted online, as it gives the restaurant an almost event-like atmosphere.

What is particularly striking is that, despite its luxurious and almost fine-dining-like appearance, the restaurant’s prices do not reach the level of classic luxury establishments. The value for money is therefore considered comparatively fair given the elaborate atmosphere, the location right on the Spree, the design concept, and the presentation of the dishes.
