I have no idea what I’ll do with this, but I just got so excited when I saw it at the store lol. I didn’t know there was a vegan version of instant potatoes!
Any ideas of what to do with it? I’m thinking of making a potato soup, comment a good recipe if you have one please!

This is a very common thing in America and usually a lot cheaper. Can I ask where you live?
Ooh! Muffin tin “meatloaves” with mashed potato topping!
Well…. I was gonna come here and say aren’t all potato flakes vegan?
Turns out they’re not 😅 I have a box of Idahoan brand that is but the Kroger brand contains milk!!
Anyway, I literally only use these to make mashed potatoes and had never thought to use them for anything else. Maybe use them to make potato patties?
I bought a bag of this because I wanted to duplicate a pre-made dry potato cheese recipe (for the record, my fav potato cheese recipe is this one plus 2 tablespoons cashews https://www.brandnewvegan.com/recipes/dips-sauces-and-gravy/amazing-vegan-cheese-sauce) that I’ve seen sold online. But I gave up on the idea pretty quick.
I’ve seen it suggested that you toss some into foods that need thickening. I loved instant mashed potatoes so much as a kid but now I just make real mashed potatoes and instant don’t hold much appeal to me.
I love that brand, the flakes smell so good when you start mixing them with hot water
besides the mashed potato stuff you can use this to thicken soups !
You can make gnocchi from instant potato flakes.
Supposedly you can use potato flakes instead of corn starch to make crispy tofu but I’ve never tried it.
I like to rehydrate but only to a stiff texture. Then mix with noch or vegan cheese as well as other seasonings then cook it in a waffle iron!!! We call it waffle fries but it’s something closer to an ultra crispy potato pancake!
Black bean smash tacos from The Burger Dude!

I add it to soups as a thickener as needed like lentil soup, noodle soup etc to make it a lil creamy
I like to sprinkle them in soup to thicken it up. I also just add water and salt for mashed potatoes
This seitan with potato flakes goes HARD → https://youtu.be/6QyEUTSP6cw
I’ve used it to thicken okonomiyaki instead of eggs (what the recipe originally called for) or Japanese yams (a good alternative, but harder for me to find).
It’s also really nice in some bread recipes 😁
I bought that brand from Publix cause it didn’t have a lot of sodium so I could control the amount of salt it had. Potato soup, potato pancakes, and use it to thicken other soups like my black bean soup that I use to make a garlic black bean sandwich.
I add these to my potato soup to thicken it up! 🙂
Sub for any other starch in Seitan recipes!
