Went to a new meat market and this is what I got. Cost $22. To me the cap looks thin but that's all they had.

Looks edible
MatronlyAsp
Looks like a ribeye. I prefer the shoulder end, but this looks like should be tasty.
jackloganoliver
Definitely agree that the cap looks thin. Beef prices being what they are, I guess that’s a fair price these days.
Truescent11
They cut off too much fat.
m_adamec
Looks fine. Nothing special decent steak
GimmeLuv-69
Limited marbling and not enough cap.
flexiblehos
Next time ask for chuck end, this is closer to loin end

I Prefer this level of marveling.

Looks okay, but $22 is quite a lot for the bare minimum amount of marbling on a ribeye.
Minute-Unit9904s
You cook it yet ?

Turbulent_Car4504

Big eye, small cap, mediocre marbling. 4.5/10.

$22 is on the high side. If I want to be critical, not a lot of caps.

Need to see the money shot before that can be answered.

Looks sorta mid. I’m not an expert tho.
Leonardo_50
Not much marbling.
Evening-Animal-4820
horrible ribeye, decent chuck.
Robjla
Don’t pay more than 1799 for that
BayBandit1
It strikes me as arrogant. Shallow and callous as well. Incredible lack of marbling for a Ribeye.
NerdModeXGodMode
Looks like choice, lower end. Id for sure marinate
haircryboohoo
We’re all over the map here! One of these days I’ll figure out what a good ribeye looks like!
AwkwardFactor84
Not enough marbling. It’ll eat, but look for prime next time. The more marbling ot as, the more tender and delicious It’ll be.

This is the typical amount of marbling I see in Whole Foods across nyc
Windturnscold
This is a sad rib eye.
Cacks-Jactus
Not bad. But not very good. Not 22$ worth unless 3 inches thick.
owengaff
Looks okay. The marbling is not great. The spinalis is small because it’s cut toward the loin end. I prefer ribeye from the chuck end. This is coming from a journeyman butcher.

It looks fine, people are just being weird here as they always are, I’m realizing. The fact that you said you paid 22 without telling us the weight/thickness, yet people are saying you over paid, proves my point that people don’t know what they’re talking about.
Ok_Adhesiveness_6968
Because of the small spinalis and poor marbling I would have passed on this steak, at any price. My two cents.
