Carmine’s Gourmet Market is coming to Boca Raton, bringing the longtime Italian grocer to this growing city.

The market will open at Glades Station, a new, four-acre project being built at the southwest corner of Glades Road and Dixie Highway, a major intersection approaching the city’s downtown.

Also coming to the site: Carmine’s Trattoria, along the lines of the beloved Italian eatery in Palm Beach Gardens.

The market and eatery by longtime restaurateur Carmine Giardini are expected to open in the first quarter of 2027.

A representative for Investments Limited, the project’s developer, did not return a phone call seeking comment. But a statement on the company’s website said the 28,000-square-foot plaza will be separated into three buildings. One is for the market, another is for the restaurant and a third is for office space.

Jeff Sussman, a Boca Raton-based restaurant broker who handled the Giardini deals, predicted they will be welcomed by people in southern Palm Beach County who appreciate high-quality ingredients.

Carmine’s market and restaurant origins

Giardini is a fixture in Palm Beach Gardens where he is known for his popular market and restaurant, Carmine’s Trattoria.

Carmine's Gourmet Market and Carmine's La Trattoria has been a long-time fixture on PGA Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens.

The market has operated since 1972 and features catering, a delicatessen and bakery, butcher meats and fresh seafoods, as well as produce.

Sussman dubbed Giardini’s store “the Rolls Royce of gourmet markets.”

In addition to having top quality products, Carmine’s Gourmet Market also has a large selection of prepared food for busy customers.

The Trattoria has authentic Italian dishes and an extensive wine list.

In a May 18 interview, Giardini confirmed the expansion but said he’ll be able to provide more details about the store and restaurant in the next couple of months.

Boca Raton’s rising profile as affluent hotspot

Boca Raton’s affluent population, which has grown since the COVID pandemic, adds to the expectation the upscale store will do well with new and existing residents in the city, Sussman said.

During the past six years, a number of older homes in eastern Boca Raton have been torn down to make way for new mansions, especially in Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club.

In addition, the downtown also is host to new condominium towers, with units costing millions of dollars each. And more are on the way.

Even if some Boca Raton residents aren’t personally cooking in their lavish kitchens, some have private chefs who will want to shop for items at Carmine’s, Sussman added.

Boca Raton already is home to several gourmet markets, including Joseph’s Classic Market near the Town Center mall at Glades Road and Interstate 95, and Doris Italian Market west of Florida’s Turnpike off of Yamato Road.
