There are two series, *Midnight Diner* (three seasons) and *Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories* (two seasons ). Both currently on Netflix.
It’s based on a 30-volume manga that hasn’t been officially translated into English, I don’t think. Although there are fan translations out there.
There are two movies with the same actors and set and one movie with a completely different group of actors and set.
There are also Korean and Chinese versions.

Kaoru Kobayashi used to be one of my favorite Japanese actors (still is). He almost always plays a stoic but kind character.

My dad is a professional cook and especially *loves* making Japanese dishes. He was the one who taught me how to cook and when this show came out, we both binged it and *loved* it. It’s a great show with really great characters and a wonderful showcase of the love of food and the passion that goes into cooking and sharing dishes with people.
10/10!!!
