my hot pepper plant started producing peppers while still in its small cup container so i transplanted it to a 10 gallon grow bag. i hadn’t heard about pinching off buds to allow the plant to get bigger until just now. should i pinch off these peppers and buds? and how long should i keep doing this before i let the peppers grow? it is May 21 and i am in zone 7a.

This is my first year growing vegetables

Nah I let it rip. If your soil and watering habits are strong, and the plant gets good wind, it will be strong enough to hold the fruit. People may disagree with me but my plants do just fine

If it’s your 1st year growing, let them grow as is to keep it low stress and low maintenance. It will also allow you to see how the plant grows naturally. Then, the following season, if you’re still curious, you can start experimenting with pruning, pinching the buds off, or even removing early fruit. Just to see how the plant behaves.

Quit now, destroy everything, you can stop before it’s too late. By the end of the season you will be addicted. Slowly consuming you land and your free time.

I never pinch peppers, I let nature choose. I don’t know what’s the right answer.

It’s a great feeling man. And no, just let them do their thing. I’ve pinched and not pinched and really didn’t see much of a difference when growing my plants in pots. Just let them do their thing and you’ll be satisfied

I only pinch the first flowers when my weather has been chilly and I want some more robust green growth, but because it’s already forming a fruit I would just pick it when it is just barely ripening and let the plant do its thing. At this stage unless the leaves around the fruiting node are dying you can just let it vibe, maybe a fraction more fertilizer if you’re using that to help it handle the combined growth.

As a semi green thumb who semi recently started peppers, fertilizer is your friend, don’t be shy.

    Everything else falls into place.

I do pinch some flowers until the plant is quite big, but many folks don’t and are also happy, so I guess you can do as you wish.
Peppers are fantastic to start your gardening journey 😄
Enjoy, and congrats for a healthy looking plant!
