Nectar of the Dogs Wine, a boutique wine business that describes itself as Simi Valley’s first wine tasting room, has expanded into a larger space and plans a three-day grand reopening celebration later this month.
The woman-owned business recently began operating out of its new location at 791 Chambers Lane, Suite 130, two doors from its previous storefront. A grand reopening weekend is scheduled for May 29-31.
Owner and founder Melanie Garibay launched the business three years ago with a focus on California wines, community events and support for dog rescue organizations. The tasting room has also become known for its dog-friendly atmosphere.
“Our community has grown so much, and we wanted a space that could grow with it,” Garibay said. “There’s more room for pups, more room for wine lovers, and more room for the moments that bring everyone together.”
The new tasting room and event venue includes nearly 3,000 square feet of rustic industrial-style space designed for wine tastings, entertainment and private events. According to the business, the venue includes a professional audio/visual system, stage lighting, a performance stage, high ceilings and expanded parking access.
The larger space will allow the business to host live entertainment, private parties, corporate functions and community gatherings. Garibay said her background in production and event coordination influenced the design and functionality of the venue.
The reopening weekend is expected to feature live music performances by several local groups, including Country Vision Band on May 29, Damaged Goods on May 30 and Brittney and the BSides on May 31.
The event will also include wine releases, food from local restaurants, dog-related activities, raffle prizes and partnerships with other small businesses, according to organizers.
Nectar of the Dogs Wine said it plans to continue its fundraising and donation efforts benefiting nonprofit dog rescue organizations through bottle-sale donations, adoption partnerships, fundraising events and donation drives. The company said it has donated more than $30,000 to rescue-related causes since opening.
