San Antonian restaurateurs are bringing a taste of Italy to the Alamo City.

The owners of Chama Gaúcha and J-Prime Steakhouse have launched a website for Ardēre Braceria Italiana, a new Italian concept that is expected to make its San Antonio debut this fall.

The new eatery was first flagged by CultureMap San Antonio. The Italian grill concept was filed through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation by J-Prime management under the name “JPrime Italia.” The details list the address as 325 E. Sonterra Blvd. #240 — the same address as the business’ headquarters. It’s unlikely to be the address of the restaurant.

Chama Gaúcha business partners João Carlos Ongaratto and Giocondo Angeli in December filed to create an LLC under the name J Prime Italia. This was the same month that J-Prime management bought the former Galpão Gaucho Brazilian Steakhouse at 2318 N. Loop 1604 West.

The company declined to tell CultureMap additional details about the project.

The management group has found success in San Antonio and beyond.

J-Prime ranked third on the Express-News 2024 list of Top 10 Steakhouses in San Antonio. Both Chama Gaúcha, which opened in 2008, and J-Prime Steakhouse, which debuted in  2014, have expanded beyond the city limits to major Texas cities and established a presence in Chicago.
