The first time I made gimbap quite a while ago, I used a bazooka tool and the rice to goodies ratio came out way off. Today I hand rolled on parchment paper (cause I don’t own a rolling mat) and I was able to control the ratio a bit better, but there seems to be still too much rice and the goodies are not centered? They tasted great though cause I chopped up meat from barbecued spareribs!

Looks great. If you want constructive criticism, I would probably spread the rice a little more to the bottom of the sheet; it seems you got a small pocket with no rice because at the top, there is almost no rice, just the carrot filling.

Koreans in general don’t use rolling mats; no one in my family uses them for kimbap.

I would definitely brush some sesame oil at the end, and sprinkle some sesame seeds or salt.

You’re doing very well. To add a little more, you spread the rice out as a base. It’s easier if you mix a little sesame oil into the rice.

Less space, have some blank seaweed at the top and the bottom

Use a crazy sharp knife to get more round less square shape slices

Just spread rice more thin and a little more filling

Looks awesome for only your second time
