Hey everyone,

Looking for some advice regarding leaf speckling and leaf drop on my one-year-old Moruga scorpion chili.

It’s currently in a 30 cm nursery pot and hasn’t been repotted in about a year. It grows indoors in a bright living room with multiple large windows.

It was doing well through winter, but around mid-March, when we started getting stronger sunny midday light, it suddenly began dropping leaves quite heavily. Many of the affected leaves develop tiny black speckles/spots along with yellowing.

What’s confusing me is:
– I have not been able to find any visible insects or webbing
– the black specks do not rub off
– the speckling seems embedded in the leaf tissue itself
– the issue is very inconsistent — several leaves next to each other can look perfectly healthy while one is heavily affected, regardless of whether it’s old or newer growth

The plant is still actively growing, flowering, and producing peppers, but the peppers stay relatively small.

I’ve been fertilizing with a chili fertilizer (NPK 4-3-5) and watering consistently, although there have definitely been periods where the plant may have been overwatered or allowed to dry out too much before watering.

Has anyone experienced something similar or have any ideas what could be causing this?

I’d really appreciate any input. Thanks so much in advance!

Following, because I have the same issue.

Seems like too much direct sun light, make sure the soil is moist when facing the sun and have a plant fan that blows directly on the plant on a low setting to help prevent any diseases
