Des Moines students celebrate end of school year with ice cream outing

FROM SNOOKI’S. WE’RE ALL SCREAMING FOR ICE CREAM STUDENTS AND THE PRINCIPAL TOOK A WALK DOWN TO SMOKEY’S ON BEAVER AVENUE NEAR FRANKLIN PERKINS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. Students at Perkins Elementary School in Des Moines marked the end of the school year with a walk to Snookies Malt Shop. Perkins Elementary Principal Michael Derrick joined the students on the walk and said the outing has been an annual tradition for 10 years. “It’s just a way to kind of say thank you to the kids and the community for a hard year’s worth of work with their academics and a great way to kick off the summer,” Derrick said.
