Hoover’s Cooking to close after decades as owner retires

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Hoover’s Cooking, a longtime east Austin restaurant known for its comfort food, is set to close after decades of serving the community as its owner retires.

Owner Hoover Alexander announced he will step away following a career spanning more than 50 years. The restaurant’s final day of full-service operations is scheduled for May 31.

The restaurant is inviting the community to stop by for a final meal as it marks the end of its run in East Austin.

A community celebration is also planned for June 15, timed to coincide with the Juneteenth holiday, to honor Alexander’s legacy and contributions to the city’s food scene.
