Tattooed Hog BBQ ribs.

The Iron District has opened for its seventh season in North Kansas City with a trio of new vendors bringing bold, crowd-pleasing flavors to the mix. Tattooed Hog BBQ, from pitmaster Danny Hawkins, anchors the lineup with smoked meats done low and slow. Think brisket sandwiches, pulled pork piled high, and loaded fries dripping in cheese sauce. Nearby, Hot Chicks, from Obida “Oz” Abu-Zareefeh, turns up the heat with double-battered fried chicken, from crispy tenders to its cult-favorite Zinger Twister wrap, all customizable across a spectrum of spice levels. Rounding things out, Zaki Mediterranean Cuisine from the chef Frank Cottrell offers a lighter, but no less deeply traditional cultural counterpoint, with dishes such as shawarma, falafel wraps, hummus, and saffron rice. For something bright and refreshing, Lemonality from Tawni Jedwski brings a pop of citrus with fresh-squeezed lemonades and juices. It’s a lineup built for grazing, sharing, and lingering. The Iron District is open from Wednesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
