I’m Italian American and grew up making homemade pizza, stromboli, risotto, and pasta. One of the first things my father taught me about cooking was to never skimp on the garlic and seasonings. These days I often find myself too busy to make dishes from scratch, so I’ve been on the hunt for the right Italian seasoning blend for easy dinners like frozen pizza or pasta doused in store-bought sauce.

I discovered the Just Spices Italian Allrounder Seasoning Blend when I received a Just Spices Starter Set around the holidays about two years ago. All of the spices included were nice and flavorful, but the Italian Allrounder was the standout for me. I find myself constantly reaching for it to help me zhuzh up my favorite dishes.

The Just Spices Italian Allrounder Seasoning Blend is a rich blend of sea salt, garlic, black Tellicherry pepper, tomato, onion, and oregano. Italian seasoning blends often exclude garlic, and I really appreciate that it’s included in this mix. The saying in my household when I was growing up was that you could never add enough garlic; it truly is so essential in Italian cuisine. And right now the Italian Allrounder blend is on sale for just $6 on Amazon.

My Honest Review of Just Spices’ Italian Allrounder Seasoning Blend

One thing that sets the Just Spices Italian Allrounder apart from other brands in the seasoning aisle is that it’s not quite as finely ground. Other Italian seasoning blends tend to form an ambiguous “Italian herbs” taste, but Just Spices’ Italian Allrounder retains the flavor of its individual ingredients. They taste fresh and distinctive. When I add it on top of pizza, I get bits of pepper, oregano, garlic, and sea salt individually, while appreciating how well they work together to elevate my basic meals.

I also like that the bigger pieces add a little bit of texture when using this blend as a topping on pizza or pasta. It’s an elevated version of those red pepper flake packets that come with takeout pizzas. Frozen pizzas often taste a bit underseasoned to me, so I absolutely love sprinkling the Italian Allrounder on top for some extra flavor.

I’ve used it in risotto, too, both by adding it into the broth while the risotto is on the stove and as a topping along with some Parmesan cheese. I personally use vegetable broth in my risotto, and I find that the flavors in this seasoning mingle really well with the broth and absorb into the Arborio rice nicely. It’s truly my secret ingredient in the kitchen — and now it can be yours, too!Buy: Just Spices Allrounder Seasoning Blend, $5.99 (on sale!) at AmazonWhat’s your go-to seasoning blend?
